July, what a strange month for Midland. We had so much rain and the weather was then so hot and humid. I felt like I was in the Houston area.
Our July program, with Vicki Jay, was outstanding. We realized how truly blessed we are and what great, generous people we have in Midland.
Bob and I are still doing a little work on our house and we have been to the lake a few times. We had our only granddaughter, Hannah, here with us for a week. Boy was I tired and BROKE when she went home. We will be traveling to San Antonio in a couple of weeks for my daughters 40th birthday. How can she be that old? Seems like only yesterday that she was a bratty teenager. Now she has 2 of her own. PAY BACKS!!
Kouhui had her baby, a big boy, Michael. Congrats to her. We have two other members expecting in November, Yvonne Reyes and Tiffany Blakeley.
The Planning Party/cookout was a huge success. The food was wonderful. Mona’s husband cooked really good burger. And we had Shirley’s cookies. Thanks to everyone who brought food. We have almost all the committee chairs. If you are still looking for a place to work, we can find one for you.
Glenna has begun her work on our National Business Women’s Week event. We will be honoring a local attorney and this will be an event not to miss. That event will take place on Monday, Oct 25, at the Petroleum Club in the evening. Glenna will need lots of help so please say yes when she schedules her next meeting.
Debbie Gann, our community projects chair is asking for suggestions for this year, so if you know of a worthy cause you would like to see us get involved with, please let her know.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, August 11, at noon at the Petroleum Club. This will be our program meeting. Mona has the program lined up. We will then have a Board of Directors meeting on the 18th and our business meeting on the 25th. Please mark your calendars for these events.
I hope everyone is having a great summer and that you are getting to take a little R&R. Please travel safely.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Striving for Sweet Success!
The Uptown BPW has a rich history of leadership and community involvement. Membership is open to all individuals who support the objects of the national organization, BPW Foundation. Community involvement includes distribution of scholarships to women returning to college later in life; Uptown sponsors a room at Midland's Safe Place; supports and donates to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center in Houston. We celebrate National Business Women's Week in October and have our Annual Style Show in April; these are our major fundraisers that provide the money for our community projects.
Established in 1919, the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., is the oldest organization for workingwomen in the United States. The federation was established as a nonprofit, nonpartisan, and nonsectarian association. Uptown BPW promotes the goals and traditions of this national organization.
